The City of Lawndale contracts exclusively with Republic Services to provide solid waste (trash) collection for residents and businesses.
To set up a new account or if you have questions about your trash collection service, please contact Republic Services Customer Service at (800) 299-4898.
Mandatory Organics Recycling Program
To help protect the environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, California Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383) requires all cities to offer organic waste recycling programs. The City of Lawndale adopted ordinances on November 15, 2021, to comply with this state law, which took effect on January 1, 2022.
For Businesses and Multi-Family Complexes
Businesses and multi-family properties with five or more units must recycle all organic waste.
To request an organics cart and set up collection service at no additional charge, please contact Republic Services at (800) 299-4898.
For Single-Family Residents
Organic waste is collected using the green curbside cart. Items that should go into this cart include:
-
Food waste (meat, bones, dairy, fruits, and vegetables)
-
Food-soiled paper (napkins, paper towels, paper plates)
-
Yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, small branches)
You can place food waste loose in the green cart or inside a brown paper bag.
